What happened? Besides getting older 😅 What happened is weightlifting ruined my movement, made me very heavy in the heels, and swapped my one foot jump for two feet (which wasn’t that good either). Now I jump much more effortlessly because my body is actually moving like it should. The nice thing too is my one foot and two foot jump are almost identical, so now I can do both without being a bum 😇 #movementrecode | Andrew Blake

Yet… I CAN train this way. but once you start doing stuff and physics gets in the way, you are doing the best you can. That being said, you CAN keep your heels off the ground no matter how you land. Movement ACTUALLY matters You can be as strong as you want, but if you don’t move well, you won’t be as athletic as you could be. Small things like straight feet and setting a bow (kneecap points out) are things not taught in the weight room. But those kind of movement behaviors are imperative for safe and effective movement. There’s a bigger picture to see This is a more advanced concept but you have to realize that EVERYTHING you do is an input to your body. Every position you take is a “rep”. Just because you’re doing a “chest” or “leg” exercise doesn’t mean what the rest of your body during that exercises doesn’t matter. Be conscious about the movement you allow your body to do. I didn’t think it was possible at the time… I knew one thing and one thing only. And that was weightlifting being the best and only way to train as an athlete.
