The 151st running of the Preakness Stakes will be held Saturday, May 16, at Laurel Park in Maryland, due to a major renovation project at Pimlico Race Course.

Brown, who has won the Preakness twice, pointed out that the $2 million race, even without the Derby winner, carries great importance in the sport, for the rest of this year and beyond. While Golden Tempo has the spotlight now, the Preakness could bring a rival to challenge him.

It’s an unusual 2026 Preakness Stakes, with the event at Laurel Park instead of Pimlico Race Course. It’ll be a smaller crowd Saturday, and Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo won’t be in the 14-horse field.
